I’ve finally finished the first draft of my new, as yet unnamed, psychological thriller.
Before I start the long hard slog of editing, I decided to write the blurb. This is my first attempt. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know.
Maura’s husband, Danny, leaves their home one Saturday morning to run errands. He is never seen again.
Maura hides her bitterness as she raises five boys alone. When people sympathise with her, she reminds them that at least Danny sends money each month to provide for his family.
Fifteen years later, Danny’s corpse is discovered in the ruins of a derelict building. He didn’t desert his family. He was murdered the very day he walked out of their home.
Maura tops the list of police suspects. Did she have reason to murder her husband? Is she lying about the cash she received each month? How could a stay at home mother support a family of six without financial help?
Aoife believes her mother-in-law is innocent. But as she investigates, Aoife discovers shocking secrets about the woman she thought she knew. And did anybody really know Danny? Was he an innocent victim or a vile monster?
There’s a lot more at stake than Aoife ever imagined. Danny’s killer may be very close to home. Who will be his next victim? Is everybody Aoife loves in danger?
Makes me want to read it, Val! Congratulations on finishing the first draft!
Thank you so much, Cynthia. I really appreciate the feedback.
